WORST PRESIDENT EVER!

A Historic Competition
By Steve Lowery

Jimmy Carter (Democrat, 1977-1981) vs. George W. Bush (Republican, 2001-Armaggedon)

EDUCATION
CARTER: Gifted student
BUSH: “Special” student
WORST: Bush

HUMAN RIGHTS
CARTER: Promoted a foreign policy that broke from previous administrations that overlooked torture by other nations if they were allied to the U.S.
BUSH: N/A
WORST: Really? Seriously?

ENERGY
CARTER: High gas prices and dependency on foreign oil led him to push conservation and create the Department of Energy
BUSH: High gas prices and dependency on foreign oil led him to push for the development of alternative fuel vehicles, employing futuristic technology such as a racing stripe or two racing stripes—though he allowed that the latter is decades away
WORST: Carter (Racing stripes are so bitchen.)

MIDDLE EAST
CARTER: Handled the Iranian hostage crisis, in which 53 Americans were held for 444 days; it is generally credited with dooming his re-election bid
BUSH: Handled the Iraq War, in which 3434 Americans and countless Iraqi civilians have been killed over the last four years; it led to his re-election
WORST: The American electorate

CRITICISM
CARTER: Faulted for weak leadership that led to a loss of American confidence, a condition made infamous by the term “malaise”
BUSH: Already described as one of the worst presidents in American history, most recently by Carter, who said, “I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history.” Carter, showing the ganas that endeared him to a nation in 1980, later recanted, saying he believed Bush only worse than Richard Nixon. Bush reacted through a spokesman by calling Carter “irrelevant,” lumping him with others he considers unworthy of consideration, including: Iraqi civilians, American soldiers, injured American soldiers, dead American soldiers, Americans, the United States Constitution, human dignity and malaise, which he says is fattening and, anyway, he prefers mustard
WORST: Push

AND THE WORST IS . . . George W. Bush. Carter’s general wienerniness is more than trumped by Bush’s incompetence and mindless cruelty. That being said, racing stripes still totally rule.
