Every year about this time, all downtown goes all Grand Prix—even the Japanese action figure toy stores, which perhaps wisely turn their backs on the dunny/munny/Gojira markets for things automotive-related. Which will bring them more money. That’s cool. In the case of toy store Alpha Cult, it’s hosting “External Combustion II,” which would seem to demand an “Electric Boogaloo” subtitle, but is in fact a display of 38 hand-customized toy Scion cars, by everyone from Blaine Fontana to The Pizz. And some other, you know, artists. Hey, we kid! Because we love! There may even be a couple real Scions and some guys from Toyota hanging around—this having all the earmarks of a Marketing Opportunity. And a party. A bangin’ party.
