“Greater flexibility” to bury mistakes
Anytime an American diplomat or diplomatic facility is attacked, the State Department is required by law to investigate the incident. Unless, it turns out, the attack happens in the places such attacks are most likely to happen– Iraq and Afghanistan.

Justice is usually depicted as a figure wearing a blindfold. Who else wears a blindfold? Prisoners put up against a wall to be shot. Coincidence?
The chances of any Blackwater gunman being held accountable for shooting up Iraqi civilians just went from incredibly slim to vanishingly small. The Associated Press reports:
