“It’s a really good singer-songwriter record. It reminds me of older Pedro The Lion. They’re from Austin originally, but now they’re based in Brooklyn. I went to elementary school with the main guy in the band, David Wingo. I also played little league baseball with him! No one really knows who they are—they’re kind of a sleeper. Wingo’s done a lot of score work, too—there’s a lot of neat stuff under the background that’s not really noticeable. I like the songs ‘Photo Booth,’ ‘Pour Me Another,’ and ‘Cindy.’ They stand out lyrically above all of the other ones—they’re more poppy and catchy. It reminds me a lot of old Damien Jurado.” // TODD
