Burrito Factory’s bean burrito

It takes cojones to name a restaurant Burrito Factory. This is Southern California, after all, not some Mexican-food-free land like Nebraska. We know our burritos like we know our traffic and smog. But although Burrito Factory isn’t as industrial as it sounds (no conveyor belts, no gargantuan burrito machines), the restaurant more than supports its name. I don’t kid when I say the burritos at this establishment are literally the size of bricks—you could probably toss one through a window if you really wanted. Each is approximately three inches wide, three inches thick, and stuffed with all sorts of options. But here it’s the simple things that do well. You wouldn’t think a burrito whose sole ingredient is beans would be tasty, but somehow the Burrito Factory has turned the combination of a tortilla and frijoles into an essential one. And if you’re a bit more adventurous, get the veggie burrito. This massive slab comes with beans, rice and huge chunks of potatoes—it’s more than enough for two. Made without lard and MSG, each burrito can be served wet or dry, and many come with a side salad (for a minimal fee) for those who want a little something extra with their meal. But you probably won’t have room for that.
