DRINK OF THE WEEK: MICHELADA

Michelada is your all-purpose summertime drink, engineered to keep you cool during long hours spent under the bastard sun and to pep you up the morning after. Traditionally served in a salt-rimmed pint glass, Michelada’s base ingredients are beer, lime juice, and a few dashes of Tabasco and Worchester sauce. V8 or Bloody Mary mix are also acceptable variations, especially when ordering a one at a bar (try Red Room or House of Hayden)—but make sure to order the cheap brew: flavorful beer can wash out the other nuances. Also, if you happen to come across something called “Chelada” in your local Vons or Albertsons, DO NOT BE FOOLED. We made the tall boy look damn pretty in this photo—and it’s only two bucks—but the frothy, pink combo of Bud Light and Clamato (think Satanic Afterbirth) tastes like vomit, straight up. Stick with hand-mixed Micheladas and you’ll do just fine
