A startlingly young Robert Redford and an even more startlingly young Jane Fonda (hey, give ‘em a break, the film celebrated its 40th anniversary in May) team up for this amusing Neil Simon romantic comedy trifle about an uptight lawyer (Redford) and a free spirited young lady (Fonda) who impulsively marry and then struggle to build a life together in a tiny New York apartment. The film’s tagline exhorted audiences to “Wake up! Make love! Fall over laughing!!!” Uh . . . If that’s how your Sunday mornings have been going, you’re probably doing it wrong. The screening is preceded by short films and other good stuff, and snacks can be had for prices roughly comparable to what they would’ve charged when this movie was new.
