ANNIVERSARY ROSTER

Jackie O points out how the strict-punk diet of Alex’s early days has dissolved now into a diverse calendar including funk instrumentals by Slippers and Odyssey and Oracle-ization by Greater California—but this is a birthday for a bar at a bar and that demands as much or more power as pop.

FRIDAY, JAN. 25
THROWRAG Salton Sea sailor punks who played Alex’s first-ever live show, returning to probably the most home port they’ll ever have.
LORDS OF ALTAMONT Fire codes snuffed the best part of the live show, but the Lords resurge reinforced with gigs with MC5’s Mike Davis.
(Also includes guests unannounced at press time)

SATURDAY, JAN. 26
RAMONAS Ms.Fits treatment for New York’s realest kids—all-girl cover band (wonder if the girl from Peach Fuzz is in this?) doing classic chainsaw pop.
DIOS (MALOS) Hawthorne-headed-to-Pedro psych-pop detailed to the minutest dot with a lot of Long Beach (Pat Butterworth on drums and Ed Kampwirth on keys) in the line-up and a new album coalescing toward release.
MIKE WATT AND THE MISSINGMEN Minuteman Watt with a trio (Raul Morales of porchcore fame on drums and Tom Watson on screeming guitar) knocking out a raw/power set including Stooges/BOC/and maybe CCR?
