CRIMINY! GUIDE TO SUMMER

By Miles Clements

Avoiding the city’s gaping potholes is only half the fun of a summertime bike ride through Long Beach. The other is knowing enough of the city’s bicycle laws not to get stopped. For instance, a lot of sidewalks—those bordering schools, churches, senior centers, bridges—are off limits. Also, the city requires bike registration. Granted, you probably won’t get stopped for that alone, but do something like take an illegal ride through Lincoln Park and you’ll probably find yourself with some extra fines without it. And that’s money that could be spent on genuine summer fun—you know, beer.
