Can You Hear Me Now?

The three main tenets of the Seal Beach Junior Lifeguards (safety, respect and camaraderie) were washed away Monday after two girls got locked in an argument. It’s unclear what initially motivated the incident, but the junior lifeguards took things too far when the spat turned physical. One girl decided to take the altercation even further by grabbing the only weapon she had on her—a cell phone. With her phone in hand, the girl jammed the antenna into the other junior lifeguard’s ear, presumably while yelling “Can you hear me now?” As the victim relayed the details to the police from a hospital lobby, she was still unsure if she would file any charges.

Cops were dispatched to the area around the marshy wetlands of Anaheim Bay after it was reported that three or four men were fishing with crossbows. Afraid that the criminals might evolve and discover the power of fire, police headed to the scene. When they arrived, however, the group had already gone, apparently pleased with their haul of plastic bags and shredded tires.
