The black-and-white battle this primary season spilled into a local parking lot Thursday when a man approached an afternoon shopper and asked her if she was old enough to vote. The woman couldn’t have known what the man wanted, but she apparently didn’t want to give it to him—she told him she just wanted to be left alone. Perhaps having been blown off a few too many times, he replied: “Is it because I’m black?” But that’s not how the woman described him to police—she remembered him as a 5’8” white man with a dirty ponytail.

A trio of twenty-somethings were forced out of a taxi late Friday night after the driver figured out the partiers didn’t have enough cash to get them where they wanted to go. The guys were evidently not just annoyed that they had to ditch their ride, but that they were being dropped off in Long Beach. As they got out, the trio spit on the driver and attacked his cab, denting the rear doors with a few drunken kicks. The driver phoned the cops and drove off. As for the guys? It was likely a very long walk home.
