Security guards at a bank trained video surveillance cameras on a janitor they suspected was swiping office equipment. According to the guards, the janitor looked as though he were stealing a computer monitor: He repeatedly placed it in and pulled it out of a cardboard box before walking away with it. The guards tried to watch the janitor as he walked around the bank, but had a hard time as he moved in and out of frame. Before the janitor made it to the door, however, the guards surrounded him. Turns out that suspicious behavior wasn’t that suspicious at all—the janitor had only been cleaning the monitor.

A number of residents phoned police after they were approached by a woman selling magazines door to door. The callers didn’t really get down to the details, but all of them told police the same thing: The woman was “going crazy” trying to sell them on new magazines. After officers arrived on scene they picked up the woman, who explained away her erratic behavior as a result of her recent release from prison. And, perhaps, because she couldn’t keep hawking all those subscriptions to Women’s Wear Daily.
