RIGHT-WING SMEAR: NOW I JUST FEEL BAD

They might be trolls, maybe

You dig into a story expecting something big. On this one, I guess, I was digging for a giant of local conservatism and discovered a mere troll. Turns out Raoul Deming is real–maybe surreal–and that he lives somewhere on the East Coast and that, sure, he’s just a museum piece somebody found in a garage sale at the house where the Cold War used to live.

Herewith, “The Peace Movement According to Raoul Deming,” in three easy quotes.

FROM FREE REPUBLIC: “Over here, [peace activists] scream for peace, but when they are over there, they encourage jihadism.”

FROM CYBERCAST SOMETHING OR OTHER
: “The peace movement is falling apart,” declared Raoul Deming, a member of the District of Columbia chapter of Free Republic, a conservative group that supports the Iraq War and frequently clashes with the anti-war activists. “The major leaders of the anti-war movement are totalitarian, Stalinist or Marxist. They just mistreat the smaller groups that come to support them. They don’t listen to them, they don’t provide them funding. ANSWER and UFPJ, through their totalitarian management, have aliened [sic] a majority of the peace groups,” Deming told Cybercast News Service.

THE NEW HAVEN INDEPENDENT: “Counter-protester Raoul Deming of Philadelphia shouted through a bullhorn such slogans as ‘Commie traitors’ and ‘Commie baby-killers,’ and–apparently addressing one young female protester in particular–’Take off your top for peace!’ She didn’t oblige.”
