PUBLIC SPEAKING

Star Harris and her mother, Debro Saad–subjects of The District’s Oct. 24 cover story–were front-and-center Tuesday night at a Sixth District Town Hall meeting, trying to do what they were unable to do one week before at a Long Beach City Council meeting: whip up support for Harris’s ongoing slip-and-fall lawsuit against 7-Eleven.

Saad had been forcibly ejected from the Oct. 23 City Council meeting when she tried to address the council without filling out the required card. This time, though, all went like clockwork.

Saad and Harris even showed up 90 minutes early for the Town Hall-ery. They waited politely until the question-and-answer period to drum up support for their lawsuit; they even offered to hand out copies of the issue of The District in which I chronicled some of the more than 30 legal actions they’ve been involved in since 1995.
