BE MORE THAN A WITNESS
The 20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, which kicks off early Jan. 19, is just more than three weeks away. And while this year’s entertainment line-up is still coming together–it will feature new Warner Bros. Records singer-songwriter-producer Jahfree and local groove-ists the Crush Band–the volunteer situation is somewhat lacking.
If you’d like to help out at the event, contact the Sixth District City Council offices at 562.570.6816. Duties may include keeping the grounds clean at Ernest McBride Sr. Park, and flagging down motorists who inevitably try to drive onto the parade route; actual duties may vary.
Point of order: as a volunteer, you won’t be paid. Provided you’re at least 16 years old, you will, however, receive a free lunch and a commemorative T-shirt–and, probably, a pretty good view of the man some people are calling the new Usher. It’s Jahfree–duh!
