SHAME ON YOU TYRA BANKS

ANTM denies runner-up Sarah a huge opportunity

Look, I realize there are a lot more important issues of concern at the moment than America’s Next Top Model, but a girl has got to have a little Tyra to go with her wine. And I’d like a word about last night’s eliminated contestant, Sarah, whom the judges deemed too thin to be a plus-sized model.

Here’s the thing, Tyra, Nigel, Twiggy and Wiggy: Despite the fact that last night’s episode had absolutely nothing to do with being a “high fashion” model, you completely pissed on the concept of what a model is by dismissing Sarah. It would appear that you equate “Plus-sized” models with catalogue pages, because I’d like someone to show me a picture—any picture—from Jane, or Seventeen, or any women’s mag where they use an actual Emme-sized model in one of their “Love Your Body!” fashion spreads. No, we don’t get treated to Mia Tyler here. We get treated instead to size-six models just like Sarah, who make normal-sized clothes look really great and wearable, in part because they have bangin’ bodies and BEAUTIFUL FACES. I for one believe Sarah has a stellar future ahead of her as one of these models—a “Love Your Body!” model, if you will, and please let’s use this!—and for ANTM to not recognize that this is the exact size model most fashion magazines employ in these spreads? Disappointing. Seriously.
