POLICE JUST PULLED ME OVER FOR AN INTERESTING REASON

So, I was just pulled over by Long Beach police, on my way home from the Long Beach City Council meeting–and I have a few questions. I’m waiting to hear back from the supervising police sergeant, who’s been very cordial. I left my telephone number with dispatch–amazing you can do this–and the sergeant called me right back!

I didn’t catch the name of the officer who stopped me–of course–but he told me the reason he pulled me over, heading north on Redondo Avenue just south of Tenth Street, was because my license plate light was out.

Thing is, I just got home and tested every light on my car–and they all work.

Something else I noticed: the officer who stopped me never used his headlights–by which I mean that he had his headlights off from the moment I noticed him behind me, shortly after I turned north onto Redondo Avenue from Seventh Street, until our two cars parted ways at Redondo Avenue and Tenth Street after the traffic stop.

I don’t know why that was, either.

I wasn’t cited, and it’s most likely nothing, and I’ll probably get the officer who stopped me in trouble–and I feel bad about that–but I’m just curious about why he really stopped me.

Maybe I wasn’t wearing pants or something. (That’s a joke; as I write this, I’m wearing the same black-and-brown checked wool slacks I had on at the City Council meeting. Repeat: I am wearing pants.)
