P-T REPORTS ON ITS NIGHT ON THE COUNCIL AGENDA

The Press-Telegram not only made most of the news at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Long Beach City Council, but its local government expert, Paul Eakins, also reports that news in today’s paper. Eakins provides a clear and concise account of Tuesday night’s fallout from the February 29 restructuring at the paper — when it was put under the control of the Daily Breeze in Torrance and lost almost a dozen newsroom employees. That’s a pleasant surprise after the short shrift the Press-Telegram gave to its initial account of the restructuring, which in effect cost Long Beach its only daily paper.

The story was clear and concise because he wasn’t watched while he wrote it.
He was left alone to do his job and provide balanced, accurate information as an observer of the evening’s events.
