NEW CONTEST: SEE YOUR INK IN PRINT

Tattoo ContestSee Your Ink in Print Contest
May 16 Deadline!

We know the best art in Long Beach isn’t found only in the city’s galleries—it’s on your body.

That’s why we’re celebrating the beauty of tattooed people with our First-Ever Large Body Work Contest.

We’re looking for tattoo artists and their human canvases.

Tattoo artists, this is your chance to let everyone see your work. Encourage your clients to photograph themselves for the contest. Show Long Beach why you’re the best in town!

Tattooed people, this is your chance to let the city see you shirtless. Whether your tattoos are from a local artist, or from a tattoo parlor in Singapore, we want to see the ink Long Beach locals are sporting. Tribal armbands need not apply.
The best art in town will grace the cover of The District’s June 4 Tattoo Issue.

Runners-up will appear inside the same issue.

To enter, simply submit photos of your art to our Flickr pool. Photos should be tagged with “tattoocontest.” Photographic skills aren’t required! We just want to see your art. Our panel of judges will select their favorite artist or individual piece of art, and the District’s crack team of photographers will do the rest.

The deadline for submissions is May 16.

Entries will be judged by the District staff and esteemed tattoo artists Terri Morgan of SoCal Tattoo, Kari Barba of Outer Limits, Juan Puente & Trace Edwards. All employees, spouses, etc. of The District won’t be eligible. But tell your friends— they’re more than welcome!

OTHER DETAILS: You’ll need to be available for us to photograph your art if you’re interested in being in the issue–unless your submitted photograph is so fantastic that it’s print ready. That means 3600px x 3000px resolution.

WINNER: The contest winner will be able to preview their artwork on June 6th, 7th or 8th at Ink And Iron Festival on the Queen Mary with a free ticket compliments of The District Weekly.

cool idea for a contest! I am looking forward to comparing your photos to my very own tattoo.

Wow. Great. Sure can’t wait to see these “winners”. Maybe it’d be better if you added their drunken story on how they got ‘em. Let’s hope there’s a follow-up mullet contest or best gold-plated grill.
