Weary lols abound in Karcher obits re: Paris mopping wet hood, but allow me to show you how there is good in all things because that “I love Paris in the springtime song…” is sung by real-life human and true-life lucky-to-have-her songwriter Eleni Mandell, who knows a worthwhile laff when one is presented before her and who uses the remaining totality of her life to tip from torch songs to ‘76-rockers as the mood pursues her.

Short-lived band the Grabs (w/members of Lavender Diamond and Blondie!) were wild and well-dressed while they lasted and short-living trio Living Sisters put her, Inara George and Becky Stark in a birds nest with a ukelele and songs about Bisbee, Arizona. And Eleni solo (accompanied I wanna say sometimes by Nels Cline? She’s powerful, she could pull characters) taps at everything from Nancy Sinatra to Sammi Smith to Raymond Chandler, as someone oddly yet perceptively pointed out.
