1959-2008

Mitchell Stewart, of Calabasas & Malibu, California passed away from an
apparent heart attack on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at his home.  Stewart was a self-
made visionary entrepreneur, who along with his wife and business partner, Nurit
Petri, founded and operated a mortgage bank and local concert venues including
the Vault 350 in Long Beach and the Malibu Inn in Malibu.  Stewart was 48.

Mitchell Stewart was born in Louisiana and raised in Illinois.
Stewart graduated from University of Minnesota in 1981 and began his career as
a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch. Stewart worked at a number of Wall Street
financial institutions and quickly became an expert in mortgage back securities.
In 1993, he left the comfort of Wall Street and launched his first mortgage bank in
Long Beach, California.

The Vault 350 opened in May 2004 and was named by the Los Angeles Times as
“the best new music venue in Southern California.”  Additionally, many city
officials credited the state-of-the-art concert venue of helping jump-start the
successful revitalization of downtown Long Beach.  The Vault 350 has hosted
performances from artists ranging from BB King, The Killers, Kenny “Babyface”
Edmonds, The Game, and Pennywise. Stewart and Petri’s passion for music and
entertainment expanded to their ownership of the historic Malibu Inn on Pacific
Coast Highway.

At the time of his death, Stewart and Petri were excited about the opening of their
third music and entertainment venue, Backstage Jazz and Blues Supper Club
located next to Vault 350, which is scheduled to this year.

Stewart had a strong a sense of community support through financial
contributions to many different secular and non secular charities with primary
focus on the Fred Jordan Mission, located on Los Angeles’ Skid Row.  In honor of
his memory the family asks that donations in lieu of flowers be sent to the Fred
Jordan Mission, P.O. Box 12345, Covina, CA 91722

In addition to his wife, Stewart is survived by his four children, mother, two sisters
and brother.

Funeral arrangements will be private. A public celebration of his life will be
announced.
