CHECK OUT SONADORA + MORE TONIGHT (SHOW OF YEAR)

Congratulations to Crystal Antlers on the lucky recovery of all their stuff two weeks ago, and thanks also to them for helping book this awesome line-up, which is yet another installment in Long Beach’s now-monthly Show(s) Of The Year. Antlers all humans mandatorily love; watch for a new EP with new songs coming somewhere soon. Paperplanes all human must soon mandatorily love; get their Rhinestone Republic CD tonight. Thee Makeout Party I personally push for all the time; I’m a 1976-rocker in many parts and thee Makeout Party is real-deal suburban rock ‘n’ roll that would then and should now get a BOMP! stamp on the label, and their coming split with Audacity is a few minutes of restorative rock ‘n’ roll better yet than anything they’ve ever done, so demand it politely at all opportunities. And now let me make you check out Sonadora.

Sonadora is Kevin who was on the first dios (malos) album and who is a young but much-accomplished songwriter aiming somewhere between maybe John Lennon and the Beck rock songs plus Gabe Garnica, who in addition to being the Rolling Blackouts’ effortlessly ferocious drummer is a serious student of pop composition and who besides Sonadora even leads (sometimes) a solo band of his own. In South Bay micro terms, this is like Dennis Wilson making tracks with Emitt Rhodes, though I will probably get teased for saying that. Anyway—pop songs designed by smart guys to sound simple. New tracks at the Sonadoraspace (and let me use this spot to get you a clue and say: Miguel Mendez) but below is the original Sonadora demo from 2006, which you might find interesting for having early versions:

“How Does It Feel”

“Sleepless”

“Birds And Bees”

Oh P.S.—all proceeds to charity so go! Another… Show Of The Year!

Oh P.S.—this is at Alex’s tonight!
