CHECK OUT LABWASTE TONIGHT!!!!

Que Sera and Call Sick score brutally with this very rare (in general) and completely rare in Long Beach set by Labwaste, the beyond-hip-hop duo of Subtitle and Thavius Beck. Even individually these guys are fearsomely historic (Blowedian alums both and twined up with every independent fast-thinker in L.A.; I think Subtitle was 2MEX’s roommate for a while if that helps locate him close to L.A. hip-hop heart) and totally unafraid of setting campsites on the farthest fringes; Subtitle broke over on GSL while working quite distinctively at Amoeba and put out long lines of fuzzed-up conceptual hip-hop (Faust to Busdriver’s Can) and Thavius recently did the stand-out production on the last Saul Williams LP. Together they are some loved and landmark guys. Thoughts from Thavius here and from Subtitle here. Stripped bio and multimedias below.

1.busdriver’s label temporary whatever dropped the first record three years ago.
2.one cell did the vinyl 2.5 years ago.
3.since then, both of these dudes released 6.5 solo albums between the two of them.
4.they both produced a mysterious project for nocando called walk the void only on CD-R.
5.thavius did a nine inch nails remix, which he got no credit for since saul williams hooked it up..
6.gino played ATP 2wice and released his first full length album under his real name last summer. it’s called “Marks In Angles”
7.thav is producing the new K the I record, it’s ultrasick!!
8.thav and gino take UPTEMPO music made with electronics very, very seriously
9.they also select recorded material for parties, gatherings and functions. also radio shows…
10.BriEfcAseRockers is releasing their next record.

Personally I would be pretty after that Nocando project. Maybe it will mysteriously make its way to me? Anyway: demo tracks downloadable via Subtitle via the FrankiBlog:
