FROM P-T: O’DONNELL RUNS (HIS MOUTH) UNOPPOSED
Patrick O’Donnell is running unopposed for re-election as the Fourth District’s representative to the Long Beach City Council — and in today’s Q & A with Press-Telegram columnist John Canalis, who lobs a few softballs that O’Donnell swats out of the park. Canalis doesn’t bother with follow-up questions. Still, the interview is better than nothing — which is how much choice voters will have on election day. Click [HERE] if you can muster the effort.

From Canalis’ commentary: “Another reader, who wrote in by hand, asked why I bothered posing questions in the first place if there was not going to be an election.”
Wonderful!
Also, you have to love responses like this one from O’Donnell: “Streets and sidewalks are the glue that hold a city together.”
If you’re running unopposed, can’t you afford to venture a little more than a pro-asphalt and cement message? It’s not like proposing something bold or original would hurt him in the election.

I don’t always agree with O’donnell’s viewpoints but on that I have to give him credit. The most important thing the city can do right now is fix our infrastructure. I’m glad the officials are finally at least looking at some real solutions.
