FIRST BITE: 212 BISTRO

Fourth Street just keeps getting more and more restaurants (we already previwed Kafe Neo–more on that soon) and now there’s another: 212 Bistro.

212 fills in for what once was Hotspot Cafe–and it does so pretty well. The renovated interior is a cool blue cut up by sandy-colored stone. There’s even a framed print of Picasso’s “Old Guitarist” to take up that theme. The restaurant has only been open for a few weeks, but owner Angel Maldonado already has big plans: the addition of a dinner menu in a few months.

For now, there are enough soups and sandwiches and breakfast items to hold you over. Everyone at lunch fell in love with the Cuban sandwich, so perhaps it’s best to give that your first bite.
