HOW DRY AM I?

The City of Long Beach tries cutting back on water

Today’s top Press-Telegram story online? The fires whipped up in Malibu, Canyon Country and Agua Dulce by the Santa Ana winds. The top local story appears to be something by Kelly Puente about the wind. But keep reading; there’s local news downpage.

Veteran reporter Joe Segura raises the alarm on condominium conversions; Paul Eakins looks at the city’s plan to curb its own water use (drink wine at every meal! Not really.); and Tim Grobaty writes entertainingly about a restaurant on Palo Verde Avenue called the Golden Lantern–which I only recall as the place my sister met her first husband.

If it’s indeed the same place, I remember he was a meat carver–probably something in a prime rib or a roast beef–and she was (is) a carnivore. That’s all I know.
