AND THE PRESIDENCY GOES TO …

With Super Tuesday behind us (not really) the Press-Telegram and LBPost.com tell us what some of you did after you voted: you went to Smooth’s Sports Grille to watch the results trickle in. And trickle. And trickle.

California’s presidential nominees are generally considered to be John McCain and Hillary Clinton, but as the Los Angeles Times reports (as of about 8 a.m.) the votes of 75 Democratic delegates still remain to be counted in the Barack Obama-Clinton contest.

As of about 8 a.m., the Times reports that Clinton has 803 confirmed delegates to Obama’s 742.

But perhaps part of the credit for Clinton’s strong showing should be laid at the feet of Congresswoman Laura Richardson (D-Long Beach), whose district includes Carson, Compton, Signal Hill–and the southwesterly portion of this city not gripped tightly in Congressman Dana Rohrabacher’s (R-Huntington Beach) iron fist.

According to both LBReport.com and LBPost.com, Richardson visited local landmarks including Compton’s Superior Warehouse, the Carson Mall, the Costco Warehouse in Signal Hill, and the Bixby Knolls-area Trader Joe’s–wearing a Hillary Clinton T-shirt and urging voters that a vote for Hill was not necessarily a vote for Bill.

LBReport.com even has audio from Richardson talking about why she campaigned for Clinton–and why the Congresswoman ponied up the dough for automated phone calls to voters, on Clinton’s behalf.
