The Daily Briefing

A NO-FAIL WAY TO AVOID REDEPLOYMENT

My God, can you imagine what the numbers would be if we didn’t have all those yellow ribbon magnets?

I haven’t fully digested this piece, but it seemed important enough to warrant immediate transfer to the Daily Briefing. The upshot: many, many more war U.S. veterans commit suicide daily than die in hostile action overseas.

Since 2003, an average of 2.4 military deaths have occurred each and every day.

In 2005 alone, 6,256 veterans committed suicide. That’s an average of 17 suicides per day, for the entire year.
