Black Mountain: Writers say Black Mountain’s is a referential and reverential sound, siphoned off of Black Sabbath and the Velvet Underground. But like a lot of good bands that get lumped in with their forebears, Black Mountain wins out by synthesizing a new branch of the same genealogical tree, in crafting a style that pulls from both the past and the present.
