Nestled in the heart of downtown San Pedro sits the well-established San Pedro Brewing Co. Founded in 1999, the brewpub quickly became a favorite among locals with its tasty grub and fine ales and lagers brewed on site.

Just a few blocks from the pier, the setting is rather quaint at SPBC. It is located in a historic building that dates back nearly 100 years. Things are cleverly organized, with the “brewhouse” situated near the center of the dining area, giving patrons a chance to see where their beers are made.

Head brewer Jason Welke sends his heart into every one of SPBC’s expertly crafted beers, and the results have paid off. In 2007, his Point Fermin Pale Ale not only scored a gold medal at the LA County Fair, but it garnered the noteworthy distinction of “Best in Show.” Point Fermin is a well-hopped American pale ale with a crisp maltiness that helps support the citrusy hop flavors and aromas. Other favorites at SPBC include Pedro Pilsner, a light and hoppy German-style lager that recently captured a gold medal at the 2009 San Diego International Beer Competition, and Harbor Hefeweizen, a refreshing wheat ale that earned a gold medal at the 2009 California State Fair. Cheers!
