Forget 2010: Make your New Year’s resolution today at Naples Fitness Studio

Since opening in Dec. 2006, Naples Fitness Studio has provided personal training to area residents—from a 13-year-old Junior Olympic water polo player to an 87-year-old woman and fitness seekers of all ages in between—led by owner David Rosett, who sees an influx of “resolutioners” after the holidays. But as the studio approaches its third anniversary, you may consider bumping up those promises to yourself by a few weeks.

During Naples Fitness’ ongoing third anniversary celebration, new clients will receive a complimentary consultation and fitness analysis—measuring such wellness factors as strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health—and a free week of training, including one hour-long session with a trainer (regularly $60 to $85) and one boot camp session (regularly $20 to $30).

While our inclinations toward postponing a return to fitness until after the holidays are only natural—with so much shopping and eating, it can be hard to find the time—Rosett points to the benefits of an early start.

“What I find is that during the holidays, everyone—personal trainers included—puts on a little weight. But how much weight will you put on—and how much worse will you feel about yourself if you’re not working out? What if you maintained [a workout regimen] before that? By January, you’d be in a better spot than you were before the holidays.”

Naples Fitness boasts 11 trainers who can assist with everything from nutritional advice—feel free to text yours while you’re at the grocery store—to circuit and strength training and body sculpting (with no facility fees for days when you want to come in and use the cardio machines on your own). Even for those who have previously belonged to a gym—or perhaps are currently ignoring their membership—personal training can be the best gift you’ll be able to give—yourself—this year.

“A large number of people who buy gym memberships typically use it between three weeks and two months and never go back,” Rosett says. “People who commit to a program with a personal trainer stick with it. We are teachers, essentially. If somebody walks out of here after six months and gives us a phone call and says, ‘Hey, I know I haven’t been training with you, but you taught me so well that I can work out on my own now,’ great! I’ve done my job.”
