Really nice event. Rae Gabelich really did an excellent job making it all go off so smoothly. Ton's of happy, mellow, friendly people and lots of cool iron. She and her Staff really have done wonderful things along Atlantic Ave. All of the stores look nice, the curbs and medians look great, nice asphalt, her Staff was working super hard as usual. She has done great things for so many people in her District.

While Ms Gabelich was working so hard, lots of other people there talking Politics too. Lot's of power broker/civic leader 1 on 1 's happening here and there. There were a lot more Politicians there than listed above.

Fascinating to hear about how difficult the budget problems actually are and how certain unions are negotiating really hard to give up as little as possible.

Interesting to hear that Mr DeLong is pushing and pushing to close the Wetlands deal, to hand a close friend Millions and Millions of unjust dollars and that this is being perceived as a 'Pay any price' to get me re-elected ploy. Also interesting to hear how Mr DeLong has become increasingly unpopular here and there. Maybe, somehow, he will make a dramatic turn around, finally resolve a range of resident issues fairly. Probably too late.

Also, the other big rumor was that Terry Jensen is moving to the third to run against DeLong. There are other very solid candidates lying in wait too. A few always seem to be here and there. One person is rumored as a solid potential residents friendly choice as well.

Another sad rumor was that The Godfather of Pine, John Morris has had just about enough of dowtown and is looking to do new things on the East side. Apparently he is ready to let Saviche, or what ever, have Friday and Saturday at Smooth's. How sad. What a nice guy.

A common opinion concerning many City issues seemed to be, many things have to change around here because business as usual is clearly not cutting it.

Race cars all around and political races in the wind. The heat was, and is definitely on, at the Dragster Show, and City Hall..

It seemed everywhere that somebody involved in or around City Hall stopped to talk, there was somebody talking about outrageous pay levels, pensions and the need for serious fiscal reform.

OH and also, the need to rebuild Lion's Drag Strip !!
