NOT GUILTY PLEA IN MELODY ROSS SHOOTING
As the Press-Telegram’s Tracy Manzer reports this morning, the alleged gunman in the Oct. 30 murder of Wilson Classical High School scholar Melody Ross entered a not guilty plea Monday in Long Beach Superior Court.
Like Ross, an honors student who was laid to rest this weekend, suspect Tom Vinson is 16 years old.
“Alleged gunman Tom Love Vinson and his co-defendant Daivion Davis, also 16, were both present for Vinson’s not guilty plea Monday,” Manzer writes.
“Both defendants have denied the special circumstance charge that includes one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and an allegation that the shooting was carried out to benefit their gang.
“Both teens are being tried as adults and face the possibility of life in prison without parole if convicted on all counts.”
They stand accused of shooting into a crowd of more than 400 people outside Wilson Classical High School on the night of Oct. 30, following Wilson’s homecoming game against Long Beach Polytechnic High School.
