AQUARIUM WAIVES ADMISSION TUESDAY NIGHT
Awards ceremony on tap, this time with locally-produced awards
Admission to the Aquarium of the Pacific will be free from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, as sponsored by the Seventh Council District—and following its yearly Community Leadership Awards Ceremony at 6 p.m. (You have to RSVP for that.)
For those of you keeping score at home, the press release says almost all: this will be the eighth annual Seventh District Community Leadership Awards Ceremony.
But this year, for the first time ever, folks being honored—a Who’s Who that includes Cultural Heritage Commissioner Karen Highberger; the Teachers Association of Long Beach; and Doug Orr, former owner of the now-shuttered Four Olives restaurant—will be getting something they can use. And it’s made locally.
Prizes in past years have included the always popular (and water conscious) native plants, but this time out, honorees will bag a glass coaster blown by the students over at the Job Corps—and etched with all the details by students in the glass etching program at Cabrillo High School.
If you feel like attending the ceremony, they’re requesting business casual attire.
To RSVP, contact the Seventh District council office at 562.570.6139 or via email at district7@longbeach.gov.
And, just so you know: parking in the parking structure opposite the Aquarium is still $7.
