The Historical Society Long Beach continues its documentary film series on Saturday, going green with a screening of Garbage Warrior, which trails New Mexico eco-architect Michael Reynolds as he defies the state by transforming beer cans, car tires and water bottles into self-sufficient, energy-independent housing. Sunday paints a portrait of Nelson Mandela with Mandela: Son of Africa, Father of a Nation, which traces the formative figure’s early years all the way through his rise to a global icon.
