Growing up listening to Bad Brains’ H.R. squeal on the mic amidst breakneck speed hardcore, harmonize on Rastafarian reverences about Jah or speak about being against the status quo helped form me and many other boys into the people we are. Having been exposed at an early age, it felt like a lifetime until finally I got to see Bad Brains perform live, but it’s a moment you will never forget. Tonight H.R. performs an acoustic set at a benefit show for the Eli Home and Friendship Kitchen; joining him are Walter Schreifels, Jonah Matranga, Jeff Pezzati, Steve Soto and DJ Dennis Owens.
