Local bassist Barry Cogert has done what so few of us might have the patience to try: whip a band full of teenage hepcats into a swinging machine. The Jazz Angels, some of whom are as young as 10 years old, cover all the basics—from Ellington to Coltrane—with an enthusiasm that ensures America’s original artform may still maintain a little relevance for the Z generation.
