Why would anyone think the breakwater will ever be lowered? The people who run this city enjoy the LA/San Gabriel river cocktail of floating trash and fecal material that sits like a cheap dirty martini. When it's hot out, the inlanders and locals do not come here to swim or surf... they go to much nicer beaches with waves and better looking people. Long Beach harbors dirty Mexicans that cast their cornucopia of children's soiled diapers into the sand. Last summer I saw a little Mexican kid with no clothes on and taking a dump while he made a sandcastle.

It's not just the breakwater that needs improvement.

I can hardly wait until the next sewage spill to close the beaches so I can watch the Mexicans who can't read the hazard signs go in for a dip as they do every year.

See my comment at "Surf's Up"; you might just find it interesting/useful.

Though I'd love to see the breakwater lowered, I actually think some of those other projects are much more worthy, from an environmental point of view. I voted to save the Gaviota Coast.

While you're at it...vote at the polls for representatives who support reconfiguration/removal.

    Yes. This is most important.
