LB-AREA SEAT ON BOARD OF EQUALIZATION OPENS

Judy Chu’s lopsided win in Tuesday’s special election to fill the 32nd district seat in Congress means that her job as the Long Beach area’s representative on the State Board of Equalization will be opening.

The Los Angeles Times has the story.

Later Wednesday, the District Weekly will have a story about how this might impact the local political scene.

Lets send Suja to Sacramento. The 2nd District needs some new, rational leadership.

Let's see if the rumors are true that Mayor Foster may soon announce his run for the BOE position and leave Long Beach after having absolutely zero success accomplishing any of his campaign promises. Remember his promise of 100 more cops? Remember his promise to fix the infrastructure? Remember his promise to extend the library hours?

Somewhere along the line Mayor Foster forgot city governement is a slow, painful public process and not a dictatorship like when he was President of Southern California Edison. The public needs to be brought on board with new ideas, not told to "trust me." Sure its slow and painful and requires the public be granted input to the process. But it is what a transparent city government demands. I think Mayor Foster may find his dictatorship style more efficient on the BOE. I think resident would applaud this move and the opportunity to elect someone else more sensitive to residents issues rather than special interests and developer Tom Dean. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

blob foster only came to LB for the freebies and to make his nose redder from all those drinks at smooths.

the sooner he leaves the better. only problem is we will most likely get some socialist elite who is trying to save the world by coddling the homeless, pedophiles, illegal aliens, gang bangers and mental patients.

If Mayor Foster goes to the BOE, look to see Councilman O'Donnell announce his candidacy for the Mayor. He’s spent the last year ingratiating his self, defending and supporting the big money special interests in Long Beach to further his political aspirations.

Another possibility is Alan Lowenthal coming back early to run for Mayor of Long Beach, since he didn’t get elected as Lt. Governor. He’s almost termed out as Senator. That would leave open the Senate vacancy Councilman O’Donnell has been striving towards.

There could be a big shake-up in the power elite, but only if Mayor Foster decides to move on up. Keep your fingers crossed.

is there a checklist of official mayoral duties in which we can compare and contrast blob foster's performance?

The Governor just appointed Jerome Horton to the BOE to fill out the term left by Chu. That means no special election on the BOE. The election will be next June.

There's still hope Kingt Foster will decide to NOT rerun for Mayor in April and choose instead to run for the BOE in June and save Long Beach from his continued failed dictatorship.
