BOUCHEES IS ON THE MOVE

The mega-popular Bouchees Bistro is in for a change–chef/owner Tony Zervas announced hours ago via the restaurant’s newsletter that the current Bouchees location (an anchor of City Place) will be turning into a new restaurant called City Tacos. Bouchees, meanwhile, will move into Smooth’s Sports Bar on Pine Avenue to become Bouchees Bistro at Smooth’s. Both restaurants will be run by Zervas and his staff. Newsletter details are below.

thank you all for your support! on sunday august 30th bouchees bistro will close for business at 9pm and reopen as City Tacos on tuesday September 1st. this new concept will specialize in made to order mexican/american cuisine. Tacos, Burritos, quesadillas, burgers etc. it will have basically the same design but accented with urban art, latin music and new signage. the food will obviously be delicious because we don’t know how to do anything else.

bouchees bistro is in the final stages of closing a deal that will move our culinary operation to smooths bar and grill on pine ave. the restaurant will be renamed bouchees bistro at smooths. we are all very, very excited about the changes about to happen. City Tacos will be an exciting new culinary delight for you to experience and bouchees will be placed more appropriately in the center of the downtown restaurant district.

    So THAT'S what John Morris and Tony Zervas were talking about at their table under the awning at Smooth's a couple weeks ago before I sat down and interrupted them.

    Bouchees and Creama Cafe are the best things above 4th Street in Downtown LB. But City Tacos will certainly be a good addition. Thanks for sticking with it for so long, and keep the creative menus coming.
  • I'm worried about the future of The Ice Cream Sandwich Of The Day. Will it move along with Bouchees or stay behind on Long Beach Blvd? In a perfect world it would be available at both locations. Please tell me it is not going to dissappear!!

    How will the Bistro @ Grill scenario work? Will they have their own section of physical space or just occupy a corner of the menu? I guess walking my butt inside would provide some answers.

    Hey Miles...do you think this is a good thing? I would love to hear your opinion on this move. Even though Bouchees was in a shitty location, there was something special about it being there or at least about its size, story, etc. I feel like this move to Smooths takes away from the story a little bit and makes it more generic and less intimate. I'm friends with both John and Tony and wish them both the best but i have to wonder if this is the best option for Bouchees. While i love the idea of them moving to a better location, i'm just not sure if this was the best choice.

    It definitely caught me by surprise. But it's something that I (and everyone else) will have to wait and see. Won't be able to judge the new spaces and how they work until I can go there and have a burger and a taco.
