I met Robert Lucas in 1990 at a blues club in Prescott AZ where I was cooking. He was there visiting his parents and dropped off a tape with some songs on it. The owner and I listened and were blown away. Robert came in that night and packed the place with people just walking by. He came in several times over the next few days and folks were standing in line to hear his music. Over the years I followed his career and saw him in San Francisco at Slim's in '93 and at the Blue Cafe in Long Beach several times. His talent was huge. It was good to know him but I'm pissed that he's gone...that's just selfish though. I wanted so much more music from him. Now God will hear the real blues.
