BAD JUDGEMENT
Your article [Will Swaim’s “Six More Years!” June 11] doesn’t mention that, unless he does his own typing, Judge Joseph E. Di Loreto’s improper correspondence was typed for him by a public employee paid by taxpayers. I don’t recall giving him that permission. This is the type of misuse of office that, if it were done by a Democrat, would be considered grounds for indictment.

NOT COOLIO WITH IT
Freestyle Explosion!?! [Dave Wielenga’s “U Know Hoo: Paradise Maintained With Coolio,” June 11.] It should be called the Wackest MCs That Ever Went Platinum!

NO WHATNOT BEFORE ITS TIME
As the always well-stocked wine selection at Trader Joe’s is often daunting to a novice like myself, I greatly appreciate this review’s assistance in my navigation of those aisles of bottles [Chad Tsuyuki’s “Drink of the Week” review of Panilonco Camenere, June 11]. Having now tasted Panilonco, I can attest to the truth of this review. My tannins were indeed experiencing some kind of Chilean wonderful, and I indulged in the “hip oxygenating-thing.” Thanks for a great review, and I look forward to reading more recommendations for wines special enough to be coupled with the greatness of ’80s Kurt Russell.

HEY, IT’S A DOG’S LIFE
No other papers have picked up this story because there is no story [Dave Wielenga’s “Long Live Gay Dogs,” June 4]. This crap happens every day at shelters across the USA. A large portion of animals are euthanized nationwide, plain and simple. You can blame the animal shelters all you want for the mass killings. The truth is all these irresponsible owners who don’t spay/neuter and allow their pets to breed and run at large uncontrolled are the root of this issue. As long as we continue to have these irresponsible people in society, things are not going to change. Animal populations will continue to grow and deaths will grow with them. There are not enough homes. Instead of the government shoving “Click it or Ticket” down our throats, it should promote some spay/neuter public service announcements. Form your coalitions and attack and badmouth Long Beach Animal Control and other shelters, if that makes you feel important, but I hope at least some your focus turns to the real source of the problems: irresponsible pet owners.

INK STINK
I love that you covered the tattoo fest at the Queen Mary and all that, and yes—LBC has lots of great ink walking around [The District’s annual Tattoo Issue, June 4]. But it’s a little ironic, don’t you think, that we live in a city that has a ban on opening new tattoo studios? I think you should have mentioned that in your last issue. This supposedly “liberal” city is run by a lot of money-grubbing closet conservative creeps. This is why we don’t have any new tatt studios in the city limits. Let’s tell the whole story next time, instead of just tooting our horn about how hip our city is. Any day now there will be a Starbucks on every corner, and the LBC will just be a part of the OC—oops! Too late.

BIG Z STRIKES AGAIN
Hearthside Homes? [Chris Ziegler’s “Control Z,” June 4]. Aren’t they the same clowns who built a glass wall around the homes they constructed adjacent to the Bolsa Chica wetlands that kills the native birds when they try to fly through it? Oh yeah, they refuse to take the wall down because they “followed every regulation and permit necessary for construction.” PLEASE. My question is: Who is asleep in the city of Huntington Beach’s planning office that is letting these guys get away with this crap?
