Belmont Grill

Belmont Grill is impossible to miss, a loud place that occupies the same space on Second Street where Los Alamitos import Paul’s once cooked its burgers. And unless you made a habit out of Paul’s, chances are you won’t be able to tell the two apart—the menu is practically identical, the tiny interior space is all but unchanged and the place is just as busy around the lunch rush as ever. What’s more is that Belmont Grill adds onto Paul’s long and shared history as a Greek burger joint, serving slices of pita with its salads and adding any Mediterranean touches whenever possible. Should you want to indulge that side of the menu, Belmont Grill has the obligatory gyros, which at a place like this aren’t quite the best, but will go a long way toward a hefty lunch. Still, this isn’t where you go to satisfy your Greek cravings—that’s for George’s just down the street. Instead, take Belmont Grill for what it is and pick up the short-order specials: burgers bigger than two hands can handle, feta fries, even a corn dog or two for a more sentimental meal.
