Looking for some weaponless entertainment, a couple of criminals decided to stash a handgun in the bushes while they went to wreak some artillery-free havoc. When the men headed back to retrieve the thing, all they found was an officer of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, who took after the two on foot. And so the Rossi .38 Special sat unclaimed in the bushes outside a Rossmoor apartment complex, but was later relieved of its loneliness by a neighbor who called it into the police, telling the cops to look for him in a black Mercedes across the street.

TUES | JUNE 17 10:30PM
It was a standard robbery for a Hawaiian Gardens convenience store: A man entered the place, brought a can of Coke up to the counter, then pulled a gun and got off with $1,000. But the extraordinary circumstance, according to LA Sheriff’s Department, was that the man apparently struck again 30 minutes later, going after another convenience store in La Palma. This time, the robber picked a different side in the soda wars and brought a Pepsi to the counter before robbing the place. Not too intent on getting away, the criminal then tried to rob a man outside the store (he didn’t have any money) before he sailed away in a blue Toyota.
