Just as residents began to wind back up after the New Year, calls came in to police about a troubling pair of transients in the area. A couple of callers reported hearing swearing and yelling in the bushes outside their houses, noting that this sort of morning wake-up was part of a recurring routine. Police hit the scene, but didn’t find any transients. Instead, they found two phone company employees who were having some trouble on the job. Officers informed the workers that, yes, everyone could hear them now, and the pair quieted down.

A real estate agent stopped by one of his new properties only to find that, thanks to two women, the house was already open. When the agent stepped inside, he caught a pair of women in mid-burglary—they were trying to steal the family’s jewels. Though it’s not quite clear how the agent stopped the women, the duo of would-be crooks didn’t want to hang around. It was when he spotted their getaway car that the real estate agent realized the women were probably just trying to add to their collection—they sped away in a black BMW with no plates.
