Heavenly Couture has you covered

Maybe you’re trying to clean up your act. Maybe you just got a job as a student teacher and have to look “respectable” by Monday. Or maybe there’s only 40 bucks in your pocket and you have to make it work. Try Heavenly Couture in Belmont Shore, offering designer jackets, shirts, skirts, pants and dresses for women, where everything is only $17.95. That’s right—everything. The store takes overstock brand-name clothing and hacks all prices to exactly that. Little tailored tweed jacket? Rampage patterned shift dress? Basic button up shirt? $17.95. (Why that precise dollar amount? Who knows. Maybe they looked at their stock and said, “These Dollhouse jackets aren’t worth seventeen dollars. They’re worth . . .  seventeen ninety-five.” It’s like the Spinal Tap of pricing.) Like every good bargain store, you have to pick around through many duds to find the good stuff. But they’re there for the taking if you’re a professional shopping hunter. There are a few drawbacks, though: 1) the slender-biased sizes, and 2) the Christian rock ballads piped in from the eaves as you shop, which make you wonder if the proceeds don’t go to some Jim Jones-esque Jeans for Jesus cult somewhere down in South America. Where else can a woman go for both sales and salvation? Heavenly Couture, indeed.
