Luxury hotels at Hojo prices

Bust out the blowdryer and defrost your credit card that’s hidden in the back of the freezer: To celebrate 80 years of business, Leading Hotels of the World—a luxury hotel company with resorts everywhere from Lisbon, Portugal to Beijing, plus stateside hotels like the SKYLOFTS at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the James in Chicago—is offering rooms at select hotels for just $19.28 a night. (That’s a whole tank of gas cheaper than the Motel 6 on Bellflower!) As first reported by the Los Angeles Times’ Daily Travel & Deal Blog, there are participating hotels as far away as Germany, Thailand and South Africa, but closer to home, there’s the Enchantment Resort & Mii amo Spa in Sedona, AZ, and the Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley. Surrounded by a vineyard and sporting 57 guest rooms (and a croquet lawn!), nights at the Bernadus Lodge begin around $300, and a recent search listed rooms as pricey as $850. But if you can somehow find within yourself the power to wake up at 5 a.m. on Oct. 1—there’s the catch!—and luck out on LHW’s Web site during the 80 minutes the offer is available, that glamorous trip can be yours for a mere Jackson or two. One more thing: There’s a two night maximum on the deal. After that, prices go back to being the equivalent of one month’s rent on your dinky little studio. Live the good life while you can!

  • Very good priced rooms. It's the right thing to do with the current state of economy.
  • Wow - those prices have really fallen. Now if people only had enough money to travel. With the current economy, it's going to be tough to fill rooms, even at those prices.
