TRADER JOE’S BANS CHINA (KINDA)
The LA Times reports today that Trader Joe’s has listened (kinda) to its customers and will be pulling single-ingredient items from China. That includes things like frozen spinach, garlic and the like. But as the Times notes, multi-ingredient products pulling from China as well as other sources will remain stocked on store shelves. Per the Times :
“We feel confident that all of our products from China meet the same high quality standards that we set for all of our products,” Trader Joe’s spokeswoman Alison Mochizuki said in a statement. “However, our customers have voiced their concerns about products from this region and we have listened. We will continue to source products from other regions until our customers feel as confident as we do about the quality and safety of Chinese products.”
Looks like the store’s so-called Trader Ming can still claim some Chinese lineage. For now, anyway.
