TOTAL TRASH

The day after a heavy storm hit Long Beach, some finally found use for our perennially filthy beach.
The stormy sea spewed forth a treasure trove of bounty last night in the form of balls (of every conceivable sort: soccer, base, kick, foot, tennis) as well as toys, tires, coolers, (sadly empty) prescription pill bottles, chair backs, ladders and pillows.
Seagulls shot into the sky while others stood patient, curious to see what the next brown, foamy wave would provide. Children ran about chucking bamboo sticks spear-like back into the water of their origin while parents deposited useful items culled from mounds of trash along water’s edge in the pails and baskets they carry like shoppers at the world’s wettest flea market.
