TELL ME NOW SO I’LL KNOW (KINKS KONTENT!!!)

NME reports Kinks reunion (per original and persuasive report in the Daily Mail) and then right away un-reports Kinks reunion. Said Davies-comma-Ray:
“I spoke to [bassist Peter] Quaife about a month ago and he dearly wants to make another record with me. I think Dave’s getting better and Mick’s still playing. It would be great to get back together just to see what musical ideas we had and what would happen.”
But said Davies-comma-Dave:
“To be honest, Ray and I haven’t even spoken in over six months. So not only hasn’t a tour been planned, it hasn’t even been discussed. I am focused on my solo career right now and that’s all I’m concerned with at the moment.”
Too bad Led Zeppelin played once and the Kinks didn’t. But they had many troubles getting into America last time (thought apparently not totally because they enraged the unions, as is conventional wisdom) so probably circumstance will never korrectly align to enkourage this koncept.
However: not inkonsiderable konsolation from the associated announcement of a Kinks box set to be kalled Retrospective and released somewhere/somehow this year. Kinks fans are deep diggers anyway (anyone with the vinyl boot of the torpedoed ’60s Dave solo album—A Hole In The Sock Of—please kontact me) and after the deluxe album remasters of some years back—whose bonus tracks covered most but not all of the essential Neue Revue Great Lost Kinks Album—I’d wonder what else we can pry from which still-virgin piles? Though a comprehensive vintage Daveography would be worth it, and clear live ’60s sets, and any Four More Respected Gentlemen ephemera—I mean, I’ll find it if they make it and who else would, too?
Before we go: all Kinks kollectors need to know about this unbeatable discography + more site. Please look. And now: Dave Davies with ‘Susannah’s Still Alive,’ baby…
